Olivia Turns Five and other happenings...

Miss Olivia turned 5 on Feb 3- it is hard for me to believe, but she is definitely growing up.  For her birthday we decided to have a bowling party.  I let our local bowling alley, Fat Cats, take care of the details and the kids had a great time...

On her actual birthday... 5 going on 13??

From the party... she had 15 of her friends (including Nathan) come to the party and they had pizza, bowled, had cake, and played in the arcade.  Good times were had by all.

With her bestie Mckayla

Nate loved bowling and tied to take not only his own turn but everyone else's turn as well.

Also in February Scott's insurance guy gave us some tickets to a Jazz game.

On Valentine's Day I took the day off to get some things done before surgery (more later).  I spent the morning at the temple (I love that place and it had been way too long), had a lunch date with my favorite girl at our favorite Mexican place (a random stranger even bought our lunch- thank you random stranger), and then helped with the kid's Valentine's parties at preschool.

Nate is still enjoying his music class at BYU.... Aunt Becky sent him this superman shirt for Christmas and he thought he was pretty cool wearing it to music that morning...

BYU finished its regular season games- we have had so much fun going to the games as a family....

It has been unusually warm in Utah this February and we have enjoyed getting out and enjoying the sunshine after being cooped up for months.

On February 27 I had surgery... something that I have been putting off for too long.  I am still recovering, but I can already tell I am going to feel a lot better.  I am so grateful for Priesthood Blessings, wonderful family and friends who have helped me and my family, and for an overal healthy body- that I have taken for granted.

Life is good at the Magleby House... extremely busy, but full of fun and love as we try to enjoy the everyday moments.

Nathan is 3

I can not believe that Nathan is already 3- it seems like yesterday that he joined our family.    To celebrate his birthday this year we had a birthday party with some of his friends from nursery and day care along with two of his cousins.  I found this cake on Pinterest (which Audrey from Aud Cakes recreated perfectly) and decided that a camping birthday party would be perfect.

Favors: backpacks made out of lunch sacks and filled with water, granola bars, raisins and a flashlight.

This is what I get when I ask this boy to smile- this is so Nathan.  Those eyebrows kill me every time he raises them.

A smile or a cheeser?

Two cakes- this one from his actual birthday- he loved blowing out the candles.

The kids earned Merit badges as they completed different tasks:  hiking (putting on hiking gear and hiking up the stairs- see picture below), fishing, crossing a stream, collecting firewood, and crawling through a log.  I think the kids had a fun time.

We sure love this little man!  So glad he is part of our family!

October Recap (and a little bit of September)

This past week I was looking through some old blog post looking for a recipe that I posted in 2008.  It was so fun for me to go through these post and read our day to day happenings- I have been slacking on my blog this past year and I need to be better about documenting our every day events.

Olivia finished her soccer season the end of September.  We spent eight days in Cincinnati during the middle of her season and she missed  three games, which set her back a bit, but she had a great time playing.  One of our neighbors, Lisa Broberg, was her coach and she had all of her friends were on her team- The Green Monsters.

Nate is taking a music class through BYU Young Musicians Academy.  It has been really fun for him to learn to new songs, play some new instruments, and learn more about music.

Scott had a birthday- the last in his 30's.  To celebrate we had a Mike Wasowsky cake made- the cake had a little mishap, but tasted delicious- the kids thought it was awesome.

We are teaching Nate to NOT text and drive.

Candyland on a Sunday morning waiting for church to start.

At the pumpkin patch...

We made a visit to Idaho to work on Christmas presents.   Nate loved "helping" grandma and mommy sew.
 The girls being silly.

Olivia and I met Brittany and her girls at Gardner Village for breakfast with the witches- so fun.

For Halloween the kids were Jake and Izzy from Jake and the Neverland Pirates.  Definitely the cutest pirates I have ever seen.  They had a party the Friday before Halloween, went trick or treating in the morning at preschool and then went trick or Treating Halloween night- we are on candy overload.
