Feelin' Green

I have always liked St. Patrick's Day. It is a week before my birthday and as a kid I think I liked it because I knew that once St. Patrick's Day came my birthday was almost here. Now that doesn't excite me as much (I do not look forward to getting older), but I do enjoy having a little green celebration. Last night we invited Scott's brother and his family and some of our good friends (the Morgan's) to join us for a little green feast. We had hamburgers and hot dogs with green buns, green tortilla chips, green jello salad, green vegetable salad, and green cool-aid followed by green shamrock sugar cookies with green frosting and green sprinkles. It was quite the green feast... and a lot of fun.

Here are a pictures of the green hot dog buns... they looked more like pickles than buns.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!!

He's a Champion

At Scott's Christmas party in December they annouced that the company would be having a bowling tournament starting after the first of the year. For the last five weeks Scott has been spending Thursday nights with the boys at Jack and Jill's bowling alley. Last Thursday Olivia and I were invited to watch the championship match and were able to cheer on Daddy as his team won the championship.

And because I can't do a post without Miss Olivia... here she is in her polka dot rain coat enjoying the sunshine today. Yeah for Sunshine!!

This Week

The drywall guys finished sheetrocking the basement on Friday. I have sheetrock dust everywhere, but I love how it turned out...

As promised a video of Miss Olivia showing off her walking skills...

We are in Trouble

She's walking. Her longest stretch is only 15 steps, but before we know it she is going to be running. It is so fun to watch her. She refuses to let mom and dad help her get up (I am afraid I am going to have a very stubborn daughter- she may not have my genes, but she is definitely my daughter in that regard.). She stands in the middle of the floor, spreads her legs wide a part, sticks her bottom out and pulls her self to a standing position and then proceeds to walk across the room. We have tried to get it on video all weekend, but she doesn't like to perform for the camera.

On Saturday the sun was shining and it looked deceptively warm outside so I bundled up Olivia and we headed out for a little walk. We only made it a block before we decided that it was to cold. I did get some cute pictures...

The Basement Project

We have been talking about finishing our basement since we moved into our house two and a half years ago. It has been a great space as it is for me to use as a crafting area and to collect our junk, but as we have discussed the logistics of adding another member to our family (no not quite yet) it became apparent that we are going to need an extra bedroom if we ever want someone to come and visit overnight. In addition, Scott has been dying to have a little place of his own with a big TV to watch BYU sports on. We looked into and decided we could get most of it done on the funds we have available. Since both Scott and I are not mechanically inclined (ironic since both of our dads are contractors) we have been using some of his connections at work to get the framing, HVAC, fireplace, and plumbing done in the last couple of weeks. We should have the electrical done this week and possibly drywall next week. Here are some pictures of the progress:

The fireplace

Framing for bedrooms

Bathtub

All of the junk I need to get rid of or find a space for so that we drywall.
How have we collected so much stuff in the last several years?

I took Miss Olivia to her twelve month check up this week. She is 22 pounds and 30 inches tall. Due to a recent bought with the stomach flu and an ear infection a week and a half later she has not been eating well and is almost the same weight as her 9 month appointment. She has taken about three steps on her own, but prefers that we hold onto one hand. She says a few words: Hi, Daddy, Cracker, and ra ra ra (BYU cheer). She says a lot of other stuff too, but I have no idea what the jabber means. No Mommy yet, which makes me very sad. We have had a lot of tantrums the last few weeks. I am hoping this is not a sign that the terrible two will be grueling for us. She likes to give kisses and she is still very much a mommy's girl.

We have only two BYU basketball home games left.
Yesterday afternoon we took Scott's nephew Camaron with us for his birthday.

Birthday Week

Olivia's birthday was on Wednesday, but we decided to celebrate all week. Mommy took the day off and we went Salt Lake to get her one year pictures done. Check out a sneak preview here. That night we had dinner with Grandpa and Grandma Magleby and had a birthday cupcake. She wasn't really sure what to do with it, but really liked the frosting.

Olivia also got a special present on her birthday, a new cousin to share a birthday with. Welcome to our family Evan.

On Saturday we had some friends and family over for a little birthday party. We played games, opened presents, and had some more cake...

Uncle Jason gave Olivia a Saint's jersey for her birthday since she is from New Orlean's and he thinks they need to win the Super Bowl. She looked pretty stinkin' cute in it.

One Year Already

One year ago at 4:17 a.m. I received a phone call and heard the words that would change our lives forever... "Your baby is coming this morning and you need to go to New Orleans as soon as possible". I couldn't believe it-she wasn't due for another three weeks... we didn't have anything prepared... were we really ready for this? These were the thoughts that were rolling around in my head, but then it hit me...today is the day that I get to be a mommy. We dropped everything, flew to Louisiana, and immediately fell in love with this precious little girl...

Now one year later she is our world...

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
