Two Reasons I love my life

I had a bad day at work yesterday. I came home with a headache, was grouchy, and basically spent the night being negative. I fell asleep early, but was restless most of the night because I thought about work and what projects I had to complete, the laundry that needed to be folded, house to be cleaned and how there wasn't enough time in the day to do everything. Olivia woke up around 3:00 a.m. and didn't want to go back to sleep so I brought her in to bed with Scott and I. She snuggled right up and fell asleep. This morning after I got out of the shower I noticed that Scott and Olivia were cuddled up together on the bed and I couldn't help but thinking how blessed I am to have these two. I can deal with bad days at work as long as I can come home to these two every night...

Unfortunately the flash woke Miss Olivia up-what a bad mom I am.

Pre-Halloween Festivities

Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. I like the stuff associated with Halloween... pumpkins, witches, Fall, candy... but don't typically look forward to the day itself. I think this year will be different.

This week to prepare for the big day we picked out some pumpkins...

Had a party at Grandpa and Grandma Magleby's. We got to try out the costume, which Olivia looked adorable in.

and went to the BYU-TCU, which really sad because we lost so badly...we left at half time. I think Scott (and I) is looking forward to basketball starting in two weeks.

Silly Girl

Sometimes as I am getting ready in the morning I put Olivia on the bathroom counter in her booster chair so that she can keep me company. She has found that she has a "friend" in the mirror and very often strikes up a conversation with her. This morning she was laughing, pulling faces, screaming and then started licking the mirror. Oh I wish I could have caught that on camera-it was hilarious. Such a silly girl.

Hogle Zoo

One of my oldest and dearest friends Abbey (and her family) came to visit this weekend. Abbey and I met while working at McDonald's many moons ago. We used to open on Sunday mornings together and became quick friends. She moved to Boise several years ago and with life as crazy as it is, we don't get to see each other very often. She now has three beautiful little kids, two of which are my godchildren. They gave me a good excuse to visit Hogle Zoo. The zoo has a new baby elephant and giraffe and I really wanted to go see them so this gave me a reason to go.

The Miller Family
The Magleby's at the Zoo.

I have been to Hogle Zoo a number of times, but have never been in the giraffe house. It was fun to be able to see the giraffes eye to eye. I didn't get a good picture of baby giraffe, but he was stinkin' cute.

Isn't baby Zuri cute? It was worth the price of admission to just see her.

Eight Months

Miss Olivia turns eight months old today- where has the time gone? It seems like yesterday that we were on a plane to New Orleans to pick her up. That tiny baby girl stole my heart the moment I laid eyes on her and now I can not imagine our life without her.

This past month she has started army crawling around the floor and has mastered rolling to get where she wants. Give her another couple of weeks and she will be crawling. She is a Mama's girl, but likes Daddy to rock her to sleep at night. She has decided that she likes to sleep through the night now (which mom has appreciated). She is about 19 pounds and 28 inches long. This past week her bottom two teeth broke through. If you look really close in this picture you can see them:

Could I be any cuter?
No, I don't think so!!

Hiking and Football

I have wanted to hike up to Timpanogos Caves for a couple of years, but something has come up each time we planned to go. The Caves are only open until mid-October. I figured there was no time like the present so Saturday morning we put Olivia into the front pack and headed up American Fork Canyon. The trail is about 1.5 miles up in which you climb about 1,000 feet-so it is a little steep. Poor Scott (who handled foot surgery in July) was hating me by the end of the day, but I think he even had a good time. Here are some pictures from the hike...

Inside the caves. I was really impressed with the amount of caves, stalagmites, stalactites, ect that we got to see. I envisioned a little cave were you walk in and then walk out, but this was a series of caves where you had to stoop and crawl through crevices. I totally loved it!

Scott 1/4 of the way up the trail- doesn't he look happy to be there :).

Me and Livy 3/4 of the way to the top. She really loves being outside.

After our caving adventure.

After we went hiking we went to the BYU Football game. It was a very very depressing game- we don't talk about it at the moment. Brittany did get a couple of cute pictures of Olivia- here is one...

Mama's Girl??

Olivia has become a mama's girl in the last couple of weeks. I think is because I have been able to spend a lot of time with her on our trip to Texas and when my family was in town for her sealing. You would think that her first words would be Mama but as you can see from this video that is not the case...

She is such a chatterbox. The talking in the video is very common and is usually done very loud. She has a set of lungs on her and is not afraid to use them to let us know she is not happy about something. I can't believe that she is seven months old. She learns something everday and it is so much fun to watch learn new things. She is almost crawling and her two front teeth on the bottom are threatening to break through any day. I wish they would hurry and get here because she has been a little bit grumpy since we got back from Texas. I miss my sweet little Livy.
