The Basement Project

We have been talking about finishing our basement since we moved into our house two and a half years ago. It has been a great space as it is for me to use as a crafting area and to collect our junk, but as we have discussed the logistics of adding another member to our family (no not quite yet) it became apparent that we are going to need an extra bedroom if we ever want someone to come and visit overnight. In addition, Scott has been dying to have a little place of his own with a big TV to watch BYU sports on. We looked into and decided we could get most of it done on the funds we have available. Since both Scott and I are not mechanically inclined (ironic since both of our dads are contractors) we have been using some of his connections at work to get the framing, HVAC, fireplace, and plumbing done in the last couple of weeks. We should have the electrical done this week and possibly drywall next week. Here are some pictures of the progress:

The fireplace

Framing for bedrooms

Bathtub

All of the junk I need to get rid of or find a space for so that we drywall.
How have we collected so much stuff in the last several years?

I took Miss Olivia to her twelve month check up this week. She is 22 pounds and 30 inches tall. Due to a recent bought with the stomach flu and an ear infection a week and a half later she has not been eating well and is almost the same weight as her 9 month appointment. She has taken about three steps on her own, but prefers that we hold onto one hand. She says a few words: Hi, Daddy, Cracker, and ra ra ra (BYU cheer). She says a lot of other stuff too, but I have no idea what the jabber means. No Mommy yet, which makes me very sad. We have had a lot of tantrums the last few weeks. I am hoping this is not a sign that the terrible two will be grueling for us. She likes to give kisses and she is still very much a mommy's girl.

We have only two BYU basketball home games left.
Yesterday afternoon we took Scott's nephew Camaron with us for his birthday.

Looks like quite the project. I can't wait to see it. Thanks again for the craft stuff!
