Almost Done

Our basement project is almost done. We finished the paint (the picture is terrible, but it is a dark sage color) and the rock for the fireplace has been started and will be done on Tuesday when the mantle gets put in. Tile and carpet next week...we are so close.

The last of the Hawaii adventures:
Day 4:
We originally planned to go to Hanama Bay to go snorkeling; however, we got started a little later than we hoped so when we got there it was full. Plan B. The girls were sleeping so we went on a short drive down the coast. Along the way we found this great beach called Sandy Beach. Most of the original pictures I posted when we got back were from Sandy Beach. The boys jumped in the waves and the girls played on the sand-good times had by all.

The sand on Sandy Beach stuck to everything even this cute little beach bum...
Also along the coast we found this beautiful outlook- it was a little windy (notice my ponytail).

Olivia got woken up and was not very happy...daddy thought he would make her feel better by being sad too.

That night we grabbed a pizza and headed to the Hawaiian Hilton Village beach to watch the fireworks. The fireworks were okay, but the sunset was breath taking...

Day5:
Saturday morning we shopped at the flea market followed by an afternoon at Pearl Harbor.
By this time Olivia had skipped too many naps and was a little cranky. She finally fell asleep as we took the tender to the Arizona Memorial. As I sat with her at the memorial a group of Japanese tourist came over by me. One of them looked at me and then looked at Olivia and then looked at me again as if trying to figure out why we had different skin color- I don't think they have much trans racial adoption in Japan.

Day 6:
On Sunday we drove to Laie in search of a church to attend. While we waited for the meeting to start we walked around the temple grounds.

Then we went to Hailawa at Mosimotos for shaved iced...

Followed by a walk on Sunset Beach...

Day 7:
Monday made it to Hanama and had a blast snorkeling and soaking in the rays (between rain storms).

Day 8:
Time to go home. Before we left we visited Punchbowl (National Cemetery). It was amazing to see the number of men and women who have given their lives for the freedom of our nation.

We had a wonderful time. We can't wait to go back (just the adults this time!). Aloha.

So jealous that you went to Hawaii but so happy you got to go. I do love the little, cute sandy bums on the beach. :-) Also, I love that skirt you are wearing-- so pretty. Did you get it there?

The trip looks so FUN! We loved seeing all the pictures. Liz and I are planning a trip next month to Italy (work-related, but a good chance to get out of dodge) and we're NOT taking the baby. Can't wait to see you guys this summer!
